I should have adhered to this resolution if it had been compatible with the efficient performance of my duties, but now, after a hard struggle and relapse into a state of great bodily prostration, I find that it is impossible for me to do my work, and that I am in daily danger of a total breakdown and confinement to bed, involving certain injury to the Public Service.
